Pat Ramsey Outstanding Secondary History Teacher Award
The Pat Ramsey Outstanding Secondary History Teacher Award with a monetary prize is chosen by committee. Dr. Ramsey is a retired faculty member of the University of Central Arkansas where she taught from 2001-2020. She served as the History Day Arkansas State Coordinator from 2002-2020. She taught in the public schools from 1987-2001. Ramsey earned her Ed.D. from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock in 2009. Members can nominate secondary teachers from the state of Arkansas. The AACHT Outstanding History Teacher of the Year award is given each year to an Arkansas teacher of History who exemplifies the highest levels of teaching skills and content knowledge. Like Dr. Pat Ramsey, this teacher shares a love of history through interesting and meaningful classroom instruction, and models historical inquiry by involving the students in a variety of research efforts.
